Align is a specialist infrastructure focused planning, property, advisory and project management consultancy with a proud 25 year history. We have become regarded as one of the top mid size multidisciplinary consultancies in the country.

This has been achieved through consistently delivering results for our range of network utility, central government, local government, commercial, and energy sector clients.

We provide front end project services, ensuring you have the required land and property rights, consents and approvals, and stakeholder buy in to deliver your project with certainty.

Our Story

Align was founded in 2001 by Laurence Sherriff in Lower Hutt, with a clear purpose, to bridge the gap between infrastructure ambition and delivery.

From the outset, we recognised a recurring challenge across New Zealand. Projects were planned and funded, yet progress often stalled when navigating planning, property, and statutory pathways. That gap became our focus.

We began as a specialist planning consultancy, supporting network utility operators and infrastructure providers to secure consents and obtain property rights. Early on, we built a reputation for being practical, commercially aware, and able to move projects forward where others stalled.

Today, Align is an integrated property, land, planning, asset and infrastructure advisory consultancy with a national footprint across New Zealand. We work with councils, water authorities, transport providers, energy companies, and Crown entities to identify routes and sites, unlock land, navigate regulation, engage with stakeholders and prepare projects for delivery.

Our focus remains unchanged: making projects land ready, consent ready, and delivery ready, so our clients can move from plan to progress with certainty.
